It is with disbelief and great sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of our mom, Minnie Lucille Johnston, at 71 years of age, on April 22, 2026, at St. Boniface Hospital.
Mom was born on January 14, 1955, in Thomas Point, MB. The family moved to Molson, MB, around 1965, where she was raised, went to school, raised her family (Seddons Corner, MB), and lived until her passing. Although mom spent most of her life in Molson, she did occasionally move away (Winnipeg, MB/Fort Frances, ON/Ignace, ON) but always returned to her roots.
Mom leaves behind five children to mourn her loss: Kelly (Russ), Henry (Janine), Shannon, Matthew (Larissa), and Joshua (Sarah). Her siblings: Laverne, Annette, Andrew, and Danny. Her grandchildren: Cara, David, Fallon, Cory, Eve, Hope, Henry Jr., Kimball, Aliya, Drew, Troy, Eden, Farrah, Joshua Jr., and Harlow. Her great-grandchildren: Aria, Saylor, Corey, Abel, Levi, and Tate. Her auntie Bernice, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Mom is preceded by her mom, Edna; dad Cyril; sister Joyce; ex-husband Albert; brother Eddie; and sister Elsie.
There will be a private viewing for family on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 6:00 p.m., and a viewing open to family and friends on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Both viewings at the Black River Band Hall.
Pallbearers will be: Henry, Matt, Joshua, Keith, Kimball, and Drew
Honorary pallbearers: Karl, Anthony, Steven, Andrew Jr., and Kyle
Mom requested a Celebration of Life to be held in Molson in lieu of a funeral service. The Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The wake will be a potluck. If you can, please bring a dish of your choice. Thank you so much in advance for your contribution to the feast.
